Hotels, opening up after a long hiatus, are looking at ways by which they can attract eyeballs and footfalls.
The world’s rapid shift to digital platforms to consume content and entertainment has thrown up some interesting ideas. Kandima Maldives sits on a stunning tropical island in Dhaalu Atoll, on the palm-fringed tropical island of Kandima, surrounded by white sand and impossibly turquoise sea.
To celebrate and reintroduce the beauty of the location, the resort’s luxurious villas and experiences to their patrons, guests and trade partners, Kandima Maldives have put out a fully-immersive 360° virtual platform. The state-of-the-art digitally immersive virtual experience, Kandima D.I.V.E offers a taste of the alluring world that awaits guests and lets them reimagine the tropical paradise at the click of a button.
The design and experiences of Kandima Maldives have been masterminded by Sanjay Maniku—whose father was one of the pioneers of tourism in the Maldives—and Mohamed Khaleel. The digital experience is an exploration of one of the islands in the archipelago of 1200 islands, its lavish villas, its aqua’ apartments built on stilts, and its several dining experiences.
Brett Castleman, the general manager of the resort has this to say, “D.I.V.E. is a remarkable virtual platform that will help our trade partners and our guests to be future-ready. Our partners can navigate through the resort’s immersive 360°view, and also enjoy a fully interactive session with an ability to see the host and converse with everyone who joins on the virtual tour.”
